Kenon Willis- Freshman Head Coach

Kenon Willis joined the Granada High Baseball program during the 2015-16 schoolyear, the same year in which he began teaching at Granada.  He teaches Computer Science and Math at Granada.

Kenon is a lifelong Matador as he attended and graduated from Granada High School in 1998.  Kenon pitched for Granada and also played point guard for the basketball team.  He was honored with the baseball team MVP award in his junior and senior seasons.  He was also honored with the MVP award for the basketball team during his senior season.  In 1998, Kenon won the Livermore-Granada Boosters' Olympian Award which honors achievement in athletics, scholastic, citizenship, and sportsmanship.

After high school, Kenon attended Gonzaga University.  He pitched for the Bulldogs as a freshman and had the team’s 2nd lowest ERA in 14 appearances.  He decided to step down from baseball and focus on academics in college.  He studied in Florence, Italy during his junior year and graduated from Gonzaga University with a teaching credential and a degree in mathematics.

After college, Kenon taught math at Douglas High School in Minden, NV for two years.  He was the head coach of the JV basketball and baseball teams at Douglas.  He then returned to the Bay Area and taught for ten years at San Ramon Valley High School.  He assisted the JV basketball team for two years and was the head freshmen basketball coach for five years.

Kenon believes that athletics is a pathway for a young person to challenge their physical and mental capacities, learn discipline, and learn how to make decisions and make sacrifices for the betterment of the team and others.

Kenon always felt like he was a Matador and returned to Granada in 2015.  He lives in Livermore with his wife and two children.
